Preamble

Gérald DARMANIN is both a son of northern France and a son of the Mediterranean basin.

More precisely, his genealogy reflects:

  • 50% Northern French (and Belgian)
  • 25% Algerian
  • 25% Maltese via Tunisia

We will focus on his Maltese roots, which begin with the presence in Tunisia of 3 generations of Maltese emigrants:

Spiridione DARMANIN and Carmela CARUANA, his great-grandparents, who married in La Goulette in 1893

and

Rocco DARMANIN (× Adèle DEMARQUE), his grandfather, who was born in Béjà in 1902
