Overview

The Collegiate Church of St Paul's Shipwreck in Valletta

The Collegiate Church of St Paul's Shipwreck is a Catholic church located in Malta.

The construction of this church in the XVIth century refers to the shipwreck of Saint Paul in the year 60 on the island, where he succeeded in converting Governor Publius to Christianity, making Malta one of the first Christian lands of the Roman Empire.

The present church dates from the XVIth century, designed by Cassar, and underwent some modifications in 1629 by the architect Lorenzo GafĂ , notably the addition of a chapel dedicated to the Blessed Sacrament.
