Attard

Overview

Locality of Attard in MaltaĦ'Attard – also known as Attard – is a town of approximately 10,000 inhabitants located near the center of the island of Malta. Together with Ħal Balzan and Ħal Lija, it forms the de facto community known as Tlett Villaġġi (Three Villages).

The parish church of Ħ'Attard, dedicated to Saint Mary, was built starting in 1613, and its bell tower dates from 1718. It received its first priest in 1579.

History

Ħ'Attard became a parish in 1675 by division of that of Birkirkara with two other rħulu, Ħal Mann and Ħal Bordi. But these two villages preferred to regroup with Ħal Lija and Ħ'Attard then found itself with Ħal Warda.
